Concerning color change

• The color change temperature and color change accuracy indicated in this sight is the point at which color change is complete when under normal pressure the temperature is increased at the rate 2 - 3 ºC per minute from room temperature. The color change temperature could change under special heating conditions.
• Reversible 50 ºC color indicating material (low temperature: yellow) can change to a yellow ochre color if exposed to direct sunlight. However, this is a temporary phenomenon which reduces with the passage of time. Even when the color has changed due to exposure to sunlight the performance is unchanged, and above 50 ºC the color changes to a yellow orange color.
• Reversible color indicating material changes color within +/-2 ºC of the indicated temperature during a rise in temperature. However, the temperature at which the color changes from the high temperature color to the low temperature color is reduced by about 15 ºC by a hysteresis phenomenon.
• When reversible color indicating materials are fixed to a bakelite surface, the color indicating pigments react with the surface and abnormal color change can result. Please consult with us concerning this type of use.
• Irreversible thermo labels whose color change temperature is greater than or equal to 130 ºC can undergo changes in performance when subjected to long periods of time at high temperature.
• The color indicating part of irreversible thermo labels can show faint color change even before temperature rise. However, there is no change to the product performance, and above the color change temperature the color clearly changes.
• The temperature indicating materials of irreversible type may change the color during the transportation, depending upon season, destination and handling.
  

Attaching labels

• Please remove water, oil, rust, dust, etc. from the surface to which the label will be attached. Dirty and uneven surfaces can cause the product to fall off or result in abnormal color change.
• When applying a label, peel away the layer on the reverse, apply to the surface to be measured, and apply light pressure with a finger or cloth. Applying strong pressure can cause damage or result in incorrect color change, so as far as possible apply to plane surfaces.
• Please do not alter the shape of these products. Cutting these products with a cutter or re-shaping them reduces their durability and can result in abnormal color change (This does not apply to Thermo Tape.).

Use and storage environment

• High pressure, high vacuum, electromagnetically induced heating in a microwave cooker for example, can cause abnormal color change and should be avoided.
• Before use store in a cool dark place. For products designated as refrigerated storage please store in a fridge.
• If water, oil or solvents come into contact with these products it can result in abnormal color change.
